Physiological Response to notifications Study

Researchers from McGill University’s Shared Reality Lab under the supervision of Jeremy Cooperstock, are seeking participants aged 18 or older, who:

1. Own and use an Android smartphone and a laptop computer
2. Are not currently using a smartwatch or other wearable system to receive notifications
3. Receive over 50 notifications per day on average

What is involved?
The objective of the experiment is to evaluate your perception of smartphone notifications. By participating, you will be asked to wear a wristband and finger worn physiological sensors, and a smartwatch to report when you receive a notification using a quick button press. The experiment will require participants to come in the lab for a maximum of 2 hours, during which, they will be asked to engage in regular interactions with their laptop, but not to respond to smartphone messages or
calls.

You will be compensated $10 per hour for your time.

Where is it happening?
The experiment will be held in McConnell Engineering building, McGill university.
