I’m a Ph.D. candidate in neuroscience, and I’m looking for a part-time research assistant over the summer to help with an experiment on the way we perceive information and surprise in music.
Your task would be recruiting and scheduling participants and then taking them through the experiment. I expect this to take about 40-50 hours total, with the timing depending on your and the participants’ schedules. Around 6-7 hours per week would be fine.
There will also be opportunities to get involved in data analysis and/or other facets of music psychology and music neuroscience research, if you’re interested. This position is especially well suited for students planning to do an independent research course in the fall semester, such as PSYC 395 or PSYC 495, for which you could use the data from this experiment.
An ideal research assistant would (in order of priority):
- be interested in music psychology
- be self-motivated and organized
- have good communication/interpersonal skills
- be comfortable with some programming
- have some research experience
Please contact me at benjamin.gold@mail.mcgill.ca if you’re interested.
Thank you!
